German watch maker Lange & Söhne has enriched its most recognizable watch line Lange 1 with a brand new watch housing a new automatic movement with a central rotor. It is reported the new watch, Lange 1 Daymatic will made its debut at the upcoming SIHH 2010.

Not a few watch lovers have been obsessed by the fabulous manual-winding movements applied on the entire Lange 1 line. So it is not wonder that Lange & Söhne’s decision to introduce an automatic movement-the calibre L021.1 with a centrally placed rotor-to the line caused quite a stir. According the official saying, this introduction turns a new page for Lange 1 line that has been so well-received for 12 years.

The rotor of calibre L021.1, featuring a platinum winding mass, almost take all space of the 61.6mm movement. The outer rim of the rotor is responsible for transferring every move of the wrist into the kinetic winding energy. And the mainspring stores 50-hour power reserve when fully wound. Like movements applied on other Lange 1, calibre L021.1 beats at a frequency of 21,600 vph

Except the manual-winding movements with a twin mainspring barrel for a power reserve of three days and the three quarter plate, the Lange 1 also well-known for its beautiful off-center dial designs and the over-sized date window which is patented. Lange 1 Daymatic obviously carries on these merits. Considering the fact that most people like to wear their watch on the left wrist, the hour hand and minute hands are off-center placed at the right side of the dial. And the left side(from top to bottom) has a over-sized date window, display, , the retrograde day-of-week display, and the small seconds subdial.

The Lange 1 Daymatic is sized at 39.5mm. And it will be made in three material: yellow gold, pink gold or platinum. Personally, I think this watch is a true a true revolution for this brand of Lange & Söhne and I love it very much.
