The Academia, the leading watch line of Swiss watch maker DeWitt, has been added with a new model – the Blackstream Chronograph watch. Like other model in Academia collection, this new Dewitt watch aims to attract young men who love luxury watches with a nice sporty touch.

The Dewitt Academia Blackstream gets some inspiration from racing cars and fuses it into the dial design. That iis why you can feel a sporty elegance from its black velvet dial even at the very first sight. Codex is a new watch brand under the wing of the famous Chronometric company. It recently launched some new watch models, including Codex Classic, Codex Chronograph and Codex Venus. These models share a cool-looking 41.5mm case crafted from stainless steel case. What differentiate them are those movements beating inside.

The Classic and Chronograph are quite straight forward. I love the intriguing design of the case and dial, though it maybe a bit too busy in eyes of some people. The bezel with chic checker arrangement is another shining point of the watch. The Classic is powered by a hand winding ETA 6498 movement that provides a small seconds display. Not sure why Codex did not fitted it with a self-winding movement. Luckily, the large crown is very easy to wind. The Chronograph is driveen by a d ETA Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph movement that has been slightly modifited. Besides the time, it provides a a moon phase indicator and a periphery style date indicator. The dial is perfectly symmetrical and looks petty nice.

The Venus comes with two versions: the Master and the Prestige. Both are limited editions , has partially skeletonized dials, and apply the classic Venus 203 hand wound movement. This vintage movement, with upgraded finishing, provides the time, annual calendar, and moon phase indicator.

The Master is limited to just 100 pieces and has a 18K rose gold case. The Prestige is almost same as the Master except that it has diamond-set sides and a different dial design. The Prestige is limited to 75 pieces only.

The 1966, is a classic watch collection of Girard Perregaux. The collection name “1966” is meant to memorize the exact year when the brand received the Neuchâtel Observatory’s Centenary Prize for its great contribution to the development of chronometry. According to Girard Perregaux, the Perpetual Calendar is limited to 198 pieces worldwide – 99 pieces for each version.

Unveiled in 2009, The Zeitwerk Hand-Wound Watch by German watch maker A. Lange & Sohne turned a new page in the mechanical watch-making industry. And this year’s updated e Zeitwerk Luminous model pushes this revolution to a new high.tag heuer watches

For me, the A. Lange & Sohne Zeitwerk Luminous has two very attractive aspects. The first one is the semi-skeletonized dial that impresses everyone even at the very first glimpse. Covered by a a semi-opaque crystal, the dial tells hours and minutes via the window at 9 and 3 o’clock respectively. The well-known time bridge, crafted from PVD-coated German silver, also contains a small second subsidiary dial. Above the bridge, there sits the power reserve indicator. The second attractive part, as the watch title suggests, is the SuperLuminova application. The numerals for the hour and minutes have been coated with luminescent substance that ensure several-hour optimal time reading in darkness.

Like the original Zeitwerk, the Zeitwerk Luminous watch is driven by the Caliber L043.1. This in-house manual-wind movement, composed of 388 parts, beats at a frequency of 18,000 vph. With a thickness at 9.3 mm, it allows the case constructed in a height of just 12.6mm.

However, not like the original model that came with rose, yellow and white gold versions, the Zeitwerk Luminous is just available in platinum with a diameter at 41.9mm And this makes a very expensive luxury watch.

Since A. Lange & Sohne always stays away from mass production, it is not surprising that this watch is limited to just 100 pieces.
